About Us ---
Family and friends have been the heartbeat of Goodman Viticulture since day one. From the early morning grape-picking crews to impromptu gatherings helping in the vineyard, family and friends have always been there to lend a helping hand. We believe that the spirit of togetherness is infused in every sip, making our wines not just products, but memories captured in a bottle. Our Family and Friends are not just part of our story; they are the very essence of Goodman Viticulture.
See below for some of the legends that have been apart of the GV journey so far.
Made it Happen.
In October 2018, we dug into the beautiful Barossa earth, planting the first vines that would become the heart of GV.
Fast forward to 2021: we crafted our first ever Good Boy - Grenache.
Hand bottling and labeling, we have to mention a very special friend of ours, Sam Otterspoor. His initial Good Boy label ignited our branding and pointed us to where we are today.
The Good Boy label is a wordplay combining our surname and the family dog Charlie who is a true vineyard companion. Charlie creates an atmosphere of joy in the vineyard, charming family and friends alike. His playful presence sets the perfect tone for crafting wine that is meant to be enjoyed with family and friends.
The Process.
After months of organically tending to our vineyard, harvest time rolls around and we pick the juicy bounty.
We then transport the fresh fruit across the road to the winery, where the magic unfolds. Tony Edwards (our winemaker) from Edwards and Sun Barossa, springs into action, de-stemming and crushing the fruit.
Once we are happy with the colour, we then basket press it, extracting every drop of the liquid gold.
The pressed juice then gets to kick back in a barrel for about eight months, as it transforms from humble pressed grape juice into the delicious drop we have bottled up today.
